Roof Pitch
The angle of a steel building's roof is determined by roof pitch. Roof pitch is the vertical rise for every 12 inches of horizontal travel. Our design system lets you choose up to a 6:12 pitch. Low-pitched roofs use less material and thus cost less. A building with a low-pitched roof is easier to heat and cool. A major advantage of a low-pitched roof is expandability: If you later add-on to the building you will be able to add more space with minimal loss of headroom. Higher-pitched roofs provide enhanced performance and generally cost more. They provide extra headroom, are less likely to leak and can add style to your steel building.

Roof Extensions and Overhangs
Roof extensions can improve the appearance of a building, but they add cost and time to erection completion. Extensions can also help a building conform to the look of other commercial buildings in an area. An overhang provides some protection from the rain and sun.
We offer two types of roof extensions: Gable Extensions for endwalls and Eave Extensions for sidewalls. Our system allows you to easily design and price buildings with overhangs up to 5' on any or all walls.
